All right, It has been raining all night and the cago area floor is drenched.

What is it?!?! are discoveries know for a leaking back door surround ?!?!

Bad weather stripping around the door ?!?!

Could it be caused by the OE ladder ?!?!

Input please

My '03 with 60k leaks a bit. My other '00 with 115k leak alot. I think it's an age issue. I tried to adjust the door but it still leaked. Both trucks have ladders by the way. I just excepted it as a cost of ownership. If my '03 gets worse, then I'll deal with it.
Good luck, Steve

the ladder definitely increases chances of leaking. my 00' DII was pretty bone dry before i installed the ladder. now with really heavy rains, i have water ingress where the ladder is mounted. will just add some additional weather stripping up there one of these days.

I was having the same problem (I do have a ladder), but looking around a bit, I found the little metal clip that "joints" the rain gutter by the top of the rear door (there were two in mine) were both off to the side a bit. I slided them back into place and used a little bit of clear sealant and the dripping has completely stopped. When I installed the ladder, I used clear sealant right off the bat.... :bigok:

Was at the dealer today to pick up some parts. The service manager came out to show me exactly what was going on. He took a sheet of paper and put it half way in the rear and half way out. He closed the door and the paper would slide right out. He did that at several places to show me that the problem was not the stripping, but the door that didn't shut in far enough.

He went on to show me how to fix it. first, you open the door all the way. Then you ask a buddy to lift the end of the door a little bit, while you loosen the 3 upper bolts. Once the bolts are loose enough for the door to lift, you let it move a little bit and retighten the bolts. once closed, the upper right part of the rear door will close tighter.

Once this side is done, you loosen the pin on the body just enough to tap it inward a little bit, then retighten the pin thus allowing the door to shut in farther ( It's not a pin, but I don't know the right name for it) this takes care of the other side and you can kiss water leaks good buy!

Thanks for the info.

Have the same problem on my "new" 03 DII HSE. Just followed the above procedure and now the paper doesn't slide. We'll see how water tight she is when it rains/next car wash.

Cool...yeah I have heard several people have to realign there doors. Sometimes they get messed up by a moron previous owners (or their kids) who hang on the door while its open. Also if you have a ladder make sure when you climb up you try not to hang off of it but rather climb up it keeping your weight vertical. Even the slightest tweak will make it leak. But like Steph pointed out they are a snap to fix.
