I have a buddy who is from the UK with family across the pond who can help source vehicles. He has imported a couple of defenders and is looking to bring 2-4 more Rovers over. He was thinking a 3 door RRC with TDI and manual transmission may be good, but he would need to sell it for $18k ish. I think he would be better off finding TDI discos for less money. He could obviously also get Defender 90s or Defender 110s

Either way, he tries to find Land Rovers from dryer climates such as spain that are LHD but found their way to England.

Any ideas on what kinds of trucks would move the quickest? Anyone want something imported?

A recent local craigslist post advertised a decent looking (converted, not factory) TDI Disco for $13K. It's only one data point, but if it's any indication of the broader market then bringing in a Disco might not be the path to prosperity. Scarcity drives value in many cases, so you might look for the Rover that very few people have, like a 300TDI 110. Even imported 200TDI 110s are selling in the low $20s in my neck of the woods. If your friend has experience doing this, great. It's still a good exercise to estimate the amount of time involved to calculate what kind of markup you need to earn a fair return on the transaction from a $/hr standpoint.

I would bring defenders. I think the top end your going to get for a non-NAS truck is under 40K when its done. It's just not going to fetch the money a NAS truck will. But I'm sure people would line up to buy one. Classics are cool but are rust buckets, they rusted into one solid chunk of shit when they where 5 years old.

how very true especially in the salt areas of Europe like Swiss, Austria, parts of Italy.

I could count on one hand the amount of RRCs I saw in the 5 years living in Swiss and visiting the surrounding Countries.

And which is why decent RRCs also fetch some nice $$$ there.

Constantly had folks trying to buy mine especially when it was at the dealer for service.

They should only look for LHD G wagons and Land Cruisers. There are a lot more folks who are likely to buy LCs and G wagons than Rovers.

I would avoid RHD at all cost. It's a huge turn off for a lot of potential casual buyers who just want the vehicle and.
