Doing a full coolant flush and replacing some hoses and t-stat pretty soon.

i know there is some other more space aged coolants people are experimenting with and I think Gem was running some sort of purple stuff.

any updates on this?

OAT has worked OK but im getting frisky and want to try something different. g12? g48? black? Options? (not going to run green though)

kyle, http://store.cdoc.com/redlinesupercoolwithwaterwetter.aspx i haven't run it in my rover yet, but i am using that when i put the new t-stat in this week. we always add water wetter to any major coolant repair.

I am a huge fan of Pentosin ++ or AKA VW?Audi G12 ++ (yes *two* +'s as it's the newest formula)

Or "G-05" is a very good coolant.

That said i am running alum. safe green shit in mine as it's slowly leaking it out keeping herself flushed anyway! Poor old thing just wants a diesel already...... :D

It only eats aluminum if left in the system too long. Checking the pH of your coolant occasionally is one way to avoid this. The other is to not leave it in the system for 5 years.

I switched to PG (propylene glycol) based away from EG (ethylene glycol) so that if my vehicle overheats on a trail the PG stuff won't kill animals if ingested.

This is my environmental rationalization :D

Seriously though; as a kid I had a neighbor who would put EG anti-freeze out in a water dish. It smells and tastes sweet to most animals. It is also poisonous to them. They would drink it then die a pretty horrible death days later. This was his way of contributing to animal control in our neighborhood.

I get the Pentosin G12 for my Audi, and I have to mix it with water. I don't think I've ever seen it pre-mixed.

I used CAT-EC1A, it is what I use in my diesel truck which has a wet sleeved block. It has SCA's added to keep the ph balanced, and stop cavitation. Seems to work pretty well, been using it for about six years now in all my vehicles.
