Does anyone have a diagram of the elec. connecters located under that steering wheel cover? In my recent purchase I have found things that were not put together or done half assed. Ok, why would I buy a D is such disarray. Well I wanted one and the guy gave me an awesome deal. OK back to it, there is a white multi pin connecter that has a little light that comes off of it. The female half has among others a bright orange wire (this info just to help id them). they were not connected and seems to me they shold be. anyone know what they are for?

cheers

As the proud new owner of a used D1 "in disarray", the first thing you should do is download the RAVE (Land Rover technical manual, 800+ pages of diagrams and directions for taking stuff apart and putting it back together).

http://www.landroverresource.com/

It's free! What's not to love? Someone else can probably answer your present question off the top of his head, but if you hope to have a long and happy relationship with your Disco then obtaining the RAVE is obligatory. Download it, learn it, love it, fix it, drive it.

I did RAVE, but alas I am at work and don't have access to my laptop where the RAVE is stored among all of my old D1 porn. I also have the patiences of a 3yo so waiting until I get home in four hours is making me crazy.

to be honest it really isn't all that bad. just the typical small things that make owning a British product interesting. The nice thing I have found since selling my 94 D1 several years ago that pricing for hard parts has dropped .

A picture is worth 1000 words... Could it be the little red lightbulb which illuminates the red circle around the spot where the key goes? Just a guess.

It sounds like the interlock harness for the ignition switch? Can you remove the key if the transmission is not in park?
