What is an appropriate wait time?

I don't mean to bitch, so I am asking you guys. My motor puked and I am having to rebuild it. I decided to use some smaller retailers rather than the big box place. This brings me to my question and what I am doing wrong. My first try took two weeks with emails and phone calls before they even got the list. Two weeks after that with more phone calls I have my price list. I wasn't price shopping, I just needed to know how much. I decided that things were taking too long and contacted another small company with the list. Email him the list and he replies the next day. A week goes by and nothing. Make two more phone calls and he is " on it" and I'll have my prices the next day. That was six days ago and nothing? I am really puzzled as to my situation. I didn't think ordering the parts would be the hard part of getting my truck on the road. So am I being too impatient? How long do you guys usually wait for parts? Thanks for any advice.

With so many places to get parts now-a-days, maybe its just me, but I give them a day or two and move on. I do try and go with the smaller guy but sometimes they can get very busy this time of year, its not your or their fault but I move on. I don't have much time to dick around with it anyway but maybe its just me..

What exactly are you ordering?

You are a lot more patient than I am.

D1 or 2?

I'm guessing by your pic.. D1

If its a D2 I have a gasket kit with bolts I'd let go for less than I paid.

Name and shame. Its the only way to make things rite.
This. Mainly because I want to know what places you're digging up that don't have online pricing.

Atlantic British, Rovers North, RovahFarm, and Lucky8 all have pretty good websites with pricing right on them.

That's ridiculous. If you want to support a small vendor who has long been an important contributor to this and other Rover forums contact P.T. Schram ("I am most easily contacted via text message to 260-804-0458 or email to pt@ptschram.com. PMs are the least reliable" DWeb username ptschram.). Will Tillery is another good choice.

I wouldn't expect either of those two to have quick turn around with parts list. Good guys but parts supply isn't either one's bread and butter.
And most larger vendors would rather just do a blanket 10% than price out 800 different items for you.

I'm guessing you talked to Lamorna. Unfortunately hes in a bit of a transition phase searching for a new place, so he's busy as hell. Plenty of guys on here that can get you parts though.

I'll piggy back here.

I placed an order with Land Rover Parts International for a 4 way junction: 04/21/2016 at 06:21PM

I paid $30 extra for 3 day shipping (the fastest choice there was as I needed to get back on the road. I had spent an hour searching around for this part. Most of them were from England so I didn't bother. I finally found their listing and went with them because they said "most parts ship within 24 to 48 hours" I didn't call because it was after work hours so I placed the order.

On 4/29 (8 days later) they said it shipped. I of course asked for a refund on shipping and was denied. "But you still will get it in 3 days!"

It shipped on a Friday, so three days later is actually Tuesday (if it arrives) or, better yet, Wednesday, which puts it at 12/13 days after order.

In an email they stated that they "normally" ship within 1-2 days but this part "had to come from England."

If so, then it should be very clear if the part isn't in stock, because I could have ordered it from England and had it long ago. Or I would have gone with any other shipping house.

So they won't get my business again. Not because I don't understand that parts have to come from long away, but because that wasn't made very clear. If something isn't in stock it shouldn't say "ships within 1-2 days" but should say "this part isn't in stock and will take extra processing"

Especially when they see someone paid the rush charge on it.

Guys, trust the vendors that have posted in the Vendors section. They support dweb so we need to support them.
