I have an 03 that recently turned over 44k miles. The service engine soon light came on for a day, but it went off an the truck still drives like crap. It feels like it is misfiring or missing when at a steady speed. The idle has gone to hell, but the gas milage is unaltered. My initial thought is either O2 sensor or something transmission related. The transmission has been acting wierd for a while. I am just trying to get thoughts. The local dealership, 90 miles away, does not have an open appointment until November 28th.

Tell them to OPEN an appointment! Someones oil change can wait when you have a truck that is running so poorly.

Fuel filter is inside the tank so it should last a "lifetime" according to LR. Series II spark plug wires are known to go out causing serious misfire faults. You could have more than one bad wire. If the boot on any of the wires is light gray or almost white they're fried. You can get a great aftermarket set from Motorcars LTD for under $35.00 and I highly recommend them vs the stock wires.
