I have been trying to figure this out and have done the search here but no luck. I have my suspesions that it could be a place to mount a light? but not sure. any help would be good. I figure it is on everyones Disco II and only on the driver side. But you never know.

Thanks ,
Chris

I think that is where the homelink (garage door opener thing) resides

It's an option to have a security system that has little sensors that monitor the cabin pressure in case a window is broken. That is where they would be if you had that option.

Ill guess its an access panel to the bolt on the bottom of the roof rack? The homelink garage door opener is right above the rearview mirror.

wrong not all d2 models had it

Mine does not. I was wondering what that access pannel was for. Last weekend I removed my headliner and all interior to re-wire my stereo and I also removed about a a cubic foot of un used wires from my main loom in the headliner. All of the stock stereo BS got ripped out, and I removed a strand of 2 purple, 1 black, and 1 gray wire that had little connections leading to no where, One of those connectors was over the rear sunroof and one was at that access pannel. I guess I cant install that security system now

Gotta be careful man, these Discos are cop magnets. I mean, the first thing I think of when I see a guy in a Disco is "drug dealer", especially if he's running Hurricanes.

Glad someone finally answered this question for me, I was wondering about those sensors since I bought the truck.

it is not an access panel, it IS a part of the alarm system and it IS where the pressure sensor IS I would not mess with it at all

No it IS NOT part of the alarm system. The pressure sensors are an option, many dont have them. Believe me, I pulled out all the wires, and the only thing behind the access panel is a terminal clip with a rubber plug on the end.

I dont have any pressure sensors in my access panel either but i do have a security system. The only sensor swithces i can find are on the doors, hood, and rear door. Just out of curiosity if there were pressure switches in that panel why would they be placed above the door post?

it is "NOT" part of the alarm. It is a dummy plate where a sensor "would" be mounted "if" it had that alarm option. As Don stated, I have not seen a single US truck with that option.

I have a '98 LSE D1 and it has the same panel. Probably the exchange circuit for the wave motion gun.

I have them in my 99 DII, There is one over the driver door post, one in the back on the passenger side door post, one in the dash just under the rpm, speedo cluster. The only use I've got out of them is impressing people when they ask me what they are.
