Well???

I was watching the tube and say a spot on Bilstein 5150'S Anyone using them and if not I have a 2 inch lift with stock shocks and I am over extending them alot so I thought I would ask what you are using and what you think of them.

I want to hear from Monroe to Rancho and all in between.

Thanks

Ross

I have a set of Rancho's that I have been running upside down ( though Rancho says that's OK ) and they are worn out. I have had them for a few years though and have been running them upside down for at least a year and a half. They still work just not that great. I'm not really sure what shocks I want to get to replace them...

2" lift, no question. OME shocks. IMO, Rancho's are the worst ever built. Mine didn't actually wear out, they broke. I will be using Bilstein 7100's on my new disco, so I can't comment about them yet.

Just installed a 2" lift this past weekend (779 / 762) and put in the OME N107 / N108. Love the set-up and think it is a smoother ride than the original set-up.

I am in the process of putting on some Fox 2.0 Emulsion shocks - 10" front and rear. They are kind of a pain to set up right as they require some custom mounts in a 1/2" shaft flavor. If this is not done right, they will rattle.

The biggest advatage that I can see with the Fox 2.0's and Bilstein 7100's is that they are rebuildable and revalvable. If you do not like the feel - change it. If they show that they are wearing out - pull it apart and put in new seals.

On the easy side, the OME shock is probably hard to beat for a 2" lift. Go to 3" and you are changing out enough crap to justify better shocks:)

I'm running Bilstien 7100's, 360/80 valving on Rovertym 3" springs...pretty awesome set-up...very little body roll and a very nice ride on the highway. On the trail, AWESOME!!! and without spring retainers, they'll pop right out on full articualtion...ask me how I know...

Frank - you need to run spring retainers or they will pop out :D

I am curious though: How did you get past the limitations of the watts linkage on the D2 enough to pop the springs? I never could get my d2 to flex enough in the rear.

C- stuff the drivers side and drop the passenger...makes a interesting noise...and is even funnier when the jeep guys bring you your spring...

I have Bilstein 7100's and the latest iteration RTE 3" springs. So far I'm very happy with both. However, I can't recommend the RTE (ski-type) lower shock mounts based on my experience. I now run simple loop mounts in the stock location and have no probs.

My 2 cents-

Yeah Greg, give us the whole stroy because I have the same set up and am also curious. Most of the RTE stuff is over built and bullet proof!

with the 3" lift.. did you have to mod the drive train at all or can you get away with a 3" lift without any mod?
