What Sort Of Demand - Bowler Wildcat ??

It looks as though the company I'm working for is slowly in demise. So I'm thinking of getting out of the industry altogether. One thought I have had is building kits not disimilar to the Bowler Wildcats - based on Rangie/Disco Chassis and either off-road or road legal depending on the build spec.

Would anyone be interested if I take the plunge?

TIA

Would you make bolt-on bodies for people who have the chassis already as well as turn-key stuff? I think there's a market for that stuff, especially if they look cool, but not enough to make a good living at it. I knew the guy that made the hummer lookalike bodies that bolted to a Suburban chassis... he made a fortune very quickly, then gave it all to lawyers and is outta bidniss. Just watch out and make something original so nobody comes after you.

It would be cool to take a cheap D1 with ragged body and drop on a fiberglass Defender lookalike body. With Defenders being in demand and the unreal prices- they'd sell.

Yeah - I'm thinking that it would be basically a weld on cage/body kit and then also offer turn-key and rolling chassis options.

As far as the bodywork goes it will definitely be along the same lines as the bowler with the fastback look. I'm thinking of an option of doing either a glass body or for more $'s kevlar panels.

Some of the other things I've been thinking would be kind of neat is bias braking, and a hydraulic handbrake - and fully adjustable front and rear trailing arms as an option.

Still lots of stuff to figure out yet - and have to go and see my local friendly bank manager to see about a business loan.

Remember that weld-on stuff scares people- the average Joe likes bolt-on. In many cases, cages etc need to be bolted instead of welded to be legal for competition. Nuttin wrong with bolts.

I'm moving up to New England soon, I'd be happy to spend some time helping you prototype it. I've got some sKiLLz...

I just checked out their site. It says you can get a street legal one. It does not say how much. I can not believe they are only 8K. If so I would by one today.

Have a call in with Drew Bowler so hopefully I'll be able to find out on prices etc. Of course with everything that has been going on back home in the last few hours..

BTW Steve I may take you up on the offer once you move up to my neck of the woods :)
