What travel shock would you run with a 3' RTE set-up? not sure on the sprin rate yet but the rear will have cones and the front will be retained with an externally mounted shock. I found a fox 2.0 in a 11' 12' and 10' travel, which one would give me the most up and down travel with the 3' set-up

I'm running a 10" travel Fox on my RTE 3" set-up and it seems about perfect. I know if you talk to RTE they will tell you to get a 10" also. I run limit straps in the front and cones in the rear, on full extension the rear spring moves about halfway down the cone so you could probably run a 12" if you wanted to, provided the shock body isn't much longer, you don't want to bottom out on the body it will kill your shocks, also don't forget to buy longer bumpstops, you'll be glad you did. My shocks are the 2.0 w/ remotes valved at 85/95 on all 4 corners. However I will say that on a slow trail with lots of flexing there is no performance gain between my $190 Foxs and my budies $30 Pro Comps, they're only worth it at high speed, I can outrun a lot of 200-1000 class buggies and put my freinds Rangie with the Pro Comps to shame, because the Foxs just don't fade. If you do't plan on taking it to the desert races or Baja, save your mony and just get some Ranchos or ProComps.

This is the EXACT same question I was about to ask! Got my 3" RTE's on and need new shocks now. I really don't want to put FOX or Bilstein 7100 money into the shocks. Jeff, what Rancho are you running?

It will be for slow trail use with lots of flex, I have rancho's on my D90 and like them. I was just thinking about trying something else and both front and rear will be retained

If both front and rear will be retained then go for the 10" travel, anything longer will be pointless. If you have the extra cash for the Foxs go for it, but if it's a choice between Fox shocksa or Ranchos and a winch, opt for the Ranchos.

Rancho 9000s, 99014 & 99112.

But you will need the RTE rear shock mount kit. Fronts go right in.

The ProComp ES9000's are +2" shocks that work very well and are $150 total for all 4 for www.dap-inc.com (includes boots, some other places charge extra for those).

I have the RTE rear shock kit on my d-90, It's really nice stuff only been able to try it out once but it made a world of difference between the OME's and the rancho/rte set-up

Getting the bilistiens would basically mean I couldn't get a yellow top and a powertank
Then get some cheaper shocks, a $190 shock doesn't help a whole hell of a lot when you have a flat tire and a dead bettery. Of course you could get the Exide spiral cell battery and a few tow straps for the price of the Optima.

Already have a bunch of recovery gear That I use in my D90 so I don't really need to buy any more of that. But I am looking at other battery options and I'm going with the rancho's
