hello all...thinking about changing over to coils soon. we take to many mexico trips for the air system to break down in the middle of nowhwere...so we dont want to take any chances..its nice though..real nice.

anyway i am thinking about going with old man emu heavy duty springs and md shocks.

the truck will be used as a daily driver (when we are around, mainly by wife) and will also be used on a fair amount of trips. some the truck will be heavily loaded, and some not. more often not, but there are times where it will. we will soon have full length rack on.

what do you guys think? would like to hear from other lwb owners

i did the shocks and springs on the my disco twice. is this pretty straight foward as well or do i need to do anything special and or get anything special???

thanks

Hey Man, I know you are jsut talking about this as of right now but you may want to hold off on actually doing it for just a little bit. I am about to do my LWB and incorperate the air ride back into the system to keep the load leveling features of it. You may also need some sort of special springs to support this bowling alley I have here for your roof.. :)

kyle, what are you thinking...i may hold off just want to know what is needed. what kind of springs are you thinking? i was thinking of the old man emu heavy duty set up (springs and shocks) what do you think? im not sure how long i can hold off on the switch over from air to coils. one side is showing some saging and i need the truck in two weeks for a rover trip to washington state....

your thoughts will be much appreciated.

you like the size of that rack dont you! :)

Yeah , I think I am going with just the standard Heavies with the air system still functional to take up the slack. I figure with the air system in tact you can still get a little height over the lift when you need it and you can maintain the self leveling features.

self-leveling

early RRs had this feature before the EAS system. its the BOGE system on the RRC. idea was to have it to take up the load and still have a softly sprung suspension.

you don't need to have the EAS intact for it to work.
