What was your first car?

Mercedes E420, one of the W124 versions. It was a pig with a floaty suspension and really tall gearing, 2.24 in the back axle. That said it had tiny wheels and if you punched the throttle it could really get you moving.

It didn't have a lot of character but I do miss the raw engineering that went into it. Everything worked and worked well. My next car will probably be a TE from that period.

My first car was a 1965 6cyl Mustang Coupe, it was a POS, but I bought it when I was 15 and worked on it, traded it and my dirtbike for a nicer 1966 289 coupe (for the money I couldn't get there in a restoration). I worked on and drove the 66 all through high school and now I have the disco and now have another Mustang, 65 GT K-code Fastback.

the fastback is more rare of a car than the coupe was, can't keep em all!
i mean, i get the reasoning. i just like the way the white one looks.

"rareness" and "collectibility" has never meant anything to me. if i love the car, and enjoy driving it often, then that's all that matters to me.

same reasoning goes into defenders. do i want one? yes. will i ever be willing to pay $20K+ for a 15 year old+ truck? no way in hell.

my first vehicle was an '87 dodge ram50 pickup. I then traded that on a '90 mitsubishi mighty max pickup. I then had a '94 2wd jeep cherokee. Then i had a '97 isuzu rodeo, i traded that for a '95 4wd isuzu trooper (i loved this truck). Then I got a real job and I bought my '01 D2!!!!!

Now I own the D2 and a 2008 LR2!!!

My dad is a car dealer which is why i had so many different vehicles, but he never spoiled me and he made me appreciate my vehicles and I really thank my dad for that!!!

I had an 86 camaro IROC 5sp manual. I put 156k miles on it in three and 1/2 years. City driving on one clutch. Did not know at the time that IROC stood for Italian Retard Out Crusin. That car could get stuck in 2inches of snow, now I have a D2. I guess as you get older you get more practical. Ah to be 18 again.

I wanted one of these.....

but my dad didn't quite get the concept - he thought "the kid wants a small foreign 4-cylinder car" so I wound up with this piece of junk

1959 Renault Dauphine - one of "the ten worst cars ever made" according to many leading experts

When I turned 16 I had the custody of a 1984 Chevy Silverado 4x4 long bed. It was a good truck, even with the shitty 305 and a slipping transmission.

Those were replaced and it was better for it. It was the first vehicle in which I got any. And my dad sold it last year after I asked him to hold onto it for me.

I currently have a 1966 original Cooper "S" 1275 4 speed.

LOVE THE CAR! So much fun.

You can see the little bugger when i was trying to figure out how I'd get the Rover wheels and 255-85-16 tires under her. :victory:

I'm pretty sure we've had this thread before...but I finally found some old pics.

First car: 1979 Mercedes 300D "Turtel"
Second car: 1981 Mercedes 300D "Blue"

At the time I wanted a Jeep because my sister drove our '81 Scrambler all through high school. I quickly fell in love with the diesel though. Wish I still had one of them!
