what would cause this vibration

so, a while back, I bottomed out on loose gravel, nothing solid, but it ripped the weight off. Had a wild vibration like one would suspect, at exact speeds (25 MPH). Relaced the shaft with a Tom WOods. And wouldn't you know it, the vibration is still there, but very very faint, at the exact same speed. So clearly, the shaft was the primary culprit, but the vibe remains faintly.

what should I be looking at?

I will say the the tie-rod on the sterring is *slightly* worn, but only with up and down play, not side to side

and I just had all my mounts replaced too if that even matters...

oh, forgot...

the vibration is most apparent in the steering wheel, you can actually see it move slightly, at a pretty quick motion

and I believe all my balance weights on my tires are all good too

my bad, no it was an old mining waste hill, they pilled up mine gravel in steep hills, so when I peak it, I was straddling te gravel pile, and it pushed up onto my front drive shaft...

also, I want to correct something else, the steering wheel is NOT whats vibrating, its the truck itself, I can feel it in my seat, and my license plate, which is placed in the front window, vibrates, and I can feel it in my feet.

thanks!

where i'm at right now, duh...
maybe the new TW shaft isn't balanced right. Not all shafts are 100% perfectly balanced. Something could have happened at the shop or in transit. Take the shaft off and lock the t-case. see if it still vibrates with the shaft out.

oh yeah, do you still have your harmonic dampner? that doughnut lookin' thing on the front axle. I broke mine off (like everyone else does) and i noticed some minor vibes. Those things do actually work at dampening small vibes. they all went away again after i put it back on....

I hope you're not saying you drove over piles of gravel intended to block access to the site.

x2 I had to get my GBR rear propshaft balanced when it arrived. Well, after installing it and finding I had a vibration.

I'd have to look here too. My TW shaft wasn't even close when I got it.

i didn't cross any access block, it was just a pile of ruble, we have a crap load of old gold mines here in breck

and I will be so pissed if its the shaft because the TW catelog talks about percision balancing, and I will have to send the shaft out to denver to get it done...

anyways, there is one critical thing, the vibration happens even while coasting at 25 moh, not just accelerating. Wouldn't that suggest something aside from the shaft since there is no pressure on the shaft?

also, I want to reitterate, the vibe is almost un-noticible, maybe I have a bad bearing somewhere? or hell, maybe the tires are messed up or unbalanced somehow, i'll keep looking. I was just concerned that I damaged something on my TC or front diff.

so my final question, is there anything aside from the front shaft and tire balancing that would produce a vibe at exact speeds?

thanks again

as discoveryxd mentioned the harmonic balancer if missing could be the culprit.

the tires out of balance would not make the make the car feel shakey only the steering wheel wouldnt it?

did you try it without the shaft? the only way you'll be able to see if it's the shaft is by taking it off and locking the t-case. once you do this, you can drive it down the street and see if there's a difference.
