I'm on shift today...wil be here at the fire hall until tomorrow morning at 8. There are 7 of us here at station 4, and we are planning on cooking out--ribs, hamburgers, hotdogs, all the trimmings. With my luck we will get toned out on an ass-kicking structure fire right about the time we sit down to eat.

Zach, maybe I'll stop by if I can.

We are sitting by the pool and getting fat. And yes, I swim right after consumption :D

Tomorrow we hit the Kinzelow Property for some great off road adventure.

Happy Independence Day All!

Good luck and stay safe.
It's interesting to hear the different names for things as compared to the West coast.
Fire hall is very Eastern.
Right about 6pm we start going out on grass and brush fires here on the 4th. Then it's going from fire to fire all night long till about 3am. I'm up to cook today and have the hot wings in the oven right now and making Hawaiian chicken for dinner.
Enjoy the 4th.

I blame this guy for the rain. He's not too far away either. Whats a 6 hour drive when you want to stop the rain.

Hey Justin maybe you can pay Erik a visit.:smash:

Live music, BBQ, and fireworks right here in the "hood" (Wolf Laurel). I can hear the band doing sound check right now. Good thing is it's walking distance ie crawling home distance!

Happy 4th everyone!!!

Cheers,

Mike

So far it's been a pretty busy day--two brush fires, two car wrecks, and one LZ to be cleared for a med-evac helicopter, all before dinner. We just ate about an hour ago. I was wrong about getting toned out on an ass-kicking fire right after dinner, but as soon as the forks hit the sink we got toned out on a bike wreck--11-year-old boy vs. car. Don't worry, the kid is fine.

Steven, swing on by if you get a minute. I'm at the one on Keith St. next to the animal hospital and Hardee's.

Kellymoe, sorry man...I'm textbook right-coaster. Stay safe out there in CA.

+1...
Fireworks in La Jolla is a joke - I've tried to watch them for 12 years now, and from the third shot on, it goes either into the fog or its own smoke cloud.
So I'm sticking to Macallan tonight.

P.S. Kevin - my heart goes to you. I'll bring the six-pack or a bottle of something good next RR or whenever we meet.

Man your busy today. I have yet to roll a wheel. I'm on the truck which slower. Our engine has been running though. I work in East Los Angeles and we are starting to here firecrackers and bottle rockets already. Just a matter of time now. Dinner is almost ready so as you say, as soon as we sit down we'll get called out.

Steven, it was good to see you guys! Thanks for stopping by.

All in all we had 16 emergency responses in our 24-hour shift...exhausting. What's crazy, though, is that not a single one of them was a confirmed structure fire. The only thing even CLOSE was at about 2:45 or 3:00 this morning when we got toned out on a possible structure fire...ended up being somebody's electrical outlet (a whole lot of nothing).

Glad everybody had a good holiday. I'm going home and getting in bed.

I was parked in such a way in Fredericksburg that with the downpour, I had water coming in around the rear sunroof switch. Keep that shit to yourself next time!

Not much rain up here. :) Went to a BBQ and hung out with a bunch of gigglin' horse girls (no JB was not there) and one brought a margarita maker. Oh damn that was cool. One of the Mexican workers brought some kick ass tequilla too that you can't get in the US.
Oh we made organic Oreo style ice cream yesterday. 1/2 gallon of it. *burp*
