this is a 97 defender in white all origanal with about 60,000 miles. the deal is ive been asked to make an offer on a this rig and want to make a fair offer. this rig has light damage to the right rear quarter minor dents and dings from dailly driver stuff. has curosion or rust around the rear cross member to body attachments that body is thin in these areas. small split in drivers front seat, door hinges have started to weep rust out and stain the body. it has the fiberglass top and a never installed softtop. it is a one owner rover and has been well taken care of. i really like this 90 and have known it since close to new and want to make a fair offer to both seller and buyer.

let me know what you guys think. i would consider this an average condition 90 that needs cosmetic work .

p.s. and it has the typical drips under the chassis to let you know what parks in the garage.

Recently, I've seen a 20k mile 97SW that was nearly perfect for $45k and salvage title 94SW converted to auto and fitted with 97 doors for $27k; a 110 for $15k and a 94 ST for $20k. So, that's anywhere from $15k to $45k! I'm sure this was very helpful....

mid to high 20s would be my guess

Not with Rust! I sold mine High Mid 20's and it was rust free.

High Teens to low twenties, tops. Frame Rust means new Frame. Leaks equal bad maintenance, IMO.

You don't mention the doors. I'll hazard a guess they are trashed/rusted as well.

Body panels can be hard to get. I had a dealer take 6 months just to get the right outer wings. The tubs are rare new and used. If you change the panel, you better have someone who spot welds or you'll be able to tell the difference quickly.

You could easily dump 5k into this truck quickly. There's your ammo. Start at 25 and work lower.

I'm with you. I was giving him the extra 5 grand that everyone gives for the opportunity to not have a manual tranny.

I have the same question but on a 95 D90, no rust 2" lift, new BFG MT, GPS, rock sliders, front and rear lockers, hard top with roof rack, HD axles, all the work was professionally done, diff guards, HD front bumper and several other mods that I cant remember. It is spotless inside and has 4 rear seats. 39,000 original miles.
I'm thinking about buying it but its hard to find the true value.

Thanks

For comparison, my Dad just purchased a 97 Conniston Green SW. We looked at many, many candidates, but passed on most for rust considerations. Prices ranged from 25-36K, depending on the usual factors. He nearly went with a white SW 95 previously owned by Wayne Gretzky. The body of the truck looked like it came from the Great One's days in LA, but it was definitely owned while he was with the Rangers. Subsequent owners/dealers had hidden the frame rust with fresh undercoating. Anyway, we happened to luck into a local NVA truck for sale that spent it's life until January in AZ. 135,000 mi., immaculately maintained, drives great, no oil leaks (none). Rear diff and muffler need replacing. ARB front bumper, sliders, OME springs, needs some tlc with seating, switch relocation, headliner, the aforementioned rear diff and ac-- but the bones are great. So was the price. 22K. H 95 SWB
