Hey All,

Replacing a leaking Wheel Hub Assembly today. Calls for loctite 648. Do I really need it?

Thanks,

"Are we talking the 365 ft/lb stake nut on a D2? Once that is torqued and peened in position, that son-of-a-bitch ain't go'in no-where."

I think the 648 is to prevent fluid leaks and not to keep that big stake nut from coming loose. I have access to a monster torque wrench that does way beyond 365. Next time I will use 648.

Thank again guys.

I think those stupid torque specs are just lawyer talk. Then if something goes bad they come in and want to see the torque wrench you used to get to 365 lb/ft. So when you can't produce said torque wrench your getting blamed for all the dead nuns rovercanus is always crying about.

My torque wrench for that is to step on a scale, do some math, place masking tape on cheater bar, place foot on tape on cheater bar, hold on to roof rack for balance, give it a couple of small "hops" for the nuns after it stops turning, and good-to-go.

I don't cry about nuns. I dislike religicans. I do however like puppies. And ponies.
