When the Disco dies then what?

What would you replace your Disco with?

Lets face it, although our Discos will last a good long time with proper care they will eventually have an end so to avoid becoming like the Series guys driving antique vehicles with an unhealthy obsession for parts procurement what would you choose as a replacement.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Hmmm..... Disco dead, then it must be time for the 80's.... ;)

I say, hybrid. No, not the electric-thingys.... Keep the Disco, repower it, etc., . No reason to not just keep the Disco chuggin' along... you can re-engine it w/ whatever you want, and keep a truckin'....

I figure i'll end up selling my Disco one day.

However, I dont think I will ever part with the D90. If the motor dies, I'll get a new one. If the frame rusts away i'll get a galvanized one, etc. A car doesn't "die" unless you let it.

What about importing a Defender in?

not a good option since you can't legally do that.

i replaced my Disco with a Subaru. it wasn't dead though. people do engine conversions in Jeeps all the time, but i don't see much out there on replacing the engines in Rovers. is it really that hard? too expensive? have i just missed the posts on the tech write ups? someone posted on the old D-web about swaping in a diesel and i remember the responses being that it was far to costly to make it worth it.

Preach on brother!!! :victory:

My Disco will never die I wont let it. It breaks I'll fix it, I roll it chop the top slap a Roll cage on it. If it falls off a cliff and becomes flat as a pancake I'll................ well I don't know what I'd do then because I'd be dead inside the thing . :applause:

Don't sell Series vehicles short. I bought a Series because parts seem easier to find and in most cases are cheaper than Discovery parts.

Those Options suck!

I would simply buy a new Rover to crap out on me.

Next for me is a Diesel Jeep product. Since Ford bought Rover they have totally "Jumped the shark". At least Jeep is making products that are aimed for their core buyers.
