Dap-inc sells them for D1 for $136.00, and I was just wondering if anywhere else would be a better deal?

(BTW mine was siezed beyond belief, and hopefully this will fix my high idle)

How might one ...adjust the base idle.???
The official procedure uses TestBook to monitor the actual number of steps used by the stepper motor to maintain the idle, and you adjust the bypass screw to set it to ~18. I don't know if there's a shadetree procedure...

Looks like I have a new project ...:) :) :) No more idle *issues*! I need to buy a RovaCom soon..NAPA Part # MPF21738 Musky..Will this fit a 1998 D1 or will it require some rigging?
I could not find an IAC for my Rover for cheaper than 233.00..

Dean,

I tried one of the "alternative' stepper motors and it DID NOT fit my 97 D1. I'll look for it and if it fits your 95 (or is it 94?) you can have it.

I wound up ordering one from either DAP or AB (I forget) but it was made by Britparts

Out of curiosity..How might one do this "You may have to adjust the base idle."??? :)

Yeah, the official procedure is crazy. I wonder how many LR techs actually follow it??

You might have to zoom in to read this:

Hmm. But all of that has to be done with the TestBook. *Sigh* Back to the stepper motor. DOes anyone know if the ACDelco part will fit a 1998 D1? I was told no. Thanks again!

I searched every type of Delco stepper motor that looked even remotely close to the 96 and up LR stepper and it is infact different. You will be very lucky to find a Delco/Napa part that matches the 96 and up stepper. Dap Inc has a good price.

Well for me its a 94 disco, which I think is different. For example, its at the back of the plenum. Could someone take a look at the pics of it above?

Dean - there is small roundish plate/seal on the top of plenum cover, next to throttle linkage. Under it there is allen head screw that adjusts base idle.On my truck it was already taken out, so i cant really get picture what original looks like. Just crank up track , take allen wrench and adjust bloody thing, monitoring what tachometer shows :)

Melissa - yes, i might :)

You are correct Joe . Nine times out of ten 94-95 D1 parts are not applicable to the 96-98 or the 99 D1. i.e. they are not synonymous nor are they interchangeable (unless its generic like an air filter, or *maybe* like the FTS or the ECTS) Joe I will keep you posted as to if I can find one cheaper than DAP. There is a used one on EBay from a 1997 (bidding starts at 50.00 though).

Serg...Did you see what new light is on now?? :)
Serg that is SO clean I would eat dinner off of that plenum..It is almost like an Angel(ray of light) @ the end of a tunnel.. LOL!!
