Where to get my torque wrench rebuilt

One of my torque wrenches is acting flaky - not about to run out to the truck at the moment to check on the model number - but anyway the ratchet mechanism seems to slip at the most inopertune moments - like today - funny how when this happens you learn new words in french that you never knew before :)

So if you don't have an account with the tool guy and aren't a garage - can you still get the rebuild kits/send it off to get rebuilt ?

thanks

Jeff

Nearly forgot it's a snap-on.

Stop the truck in your area and he will more then likely fix it right there...

One thing that I've found out with Snap-on is that they'll replace it if it's broken. They won't replace if it's worn out. Hopefully they will repair it though. I think you should try to break it. :D

I wish I could break the damn thing - I went out to the truck a few moments back and tried to loosent the nuts on the tow bar :D - This is a 3/8 torque wrench and the bolts on the tow bar haven't been loosened since it came out of the dealership in 98. I think I can vouch that this thing is at least as tough as some of the cheesy ass CP air tools I had :)

I would take it back to where I got it from but it would mean taking a plane trip back to the old country ;)

Model no is OJFR275D - I know this one is probably a bit long in the tooth (I've worn the knurling down a bit) - but its one of those tools that you just get an affinity to. I've had this one since racing - it's torqued down its fair share of DAPs, Parillas, Komets, TKMs, Rotaxes and one steel Kent 1700 - so we have a bit of history this wrench and I ;)

I'm not even worried about paying for the wear and tear thing - do they normally check the torque rating afterwards ?

Thanks

Jeff

You know I had never bothered disassembling this one - since it's been in the parts cleaner probably more times that anything else I have. But I pulled it apart tonight apart from packed with a ton of (spooge, smeg, crap, gunge) there appeared to be nothing wrong with the mechanism - I ended up giving it a bath and a liberal sparying with break-free

Thanks John/everyone

will let you know tomorrow what the final outcome is.
