White Roof on Rover

I saw this Disco the other day on the Northway (I-87) between NYC and Albany. I really liked the white roof and wheels. My '992 is also oxford blue (like this one) but I have a SD Rack. Looks like he also had AB steel wheels like mine. I'm considering doing this to my D2. The roof is really scratched up from wheeling and removing the SD rack. Just not sure how the white roof would look under the rack. On my truck I'm not sure I like the total black out look.

Does anyone know who owns this rig? As I recall it at Ontario plates....

I've attached a photo of my D2 for comparison.

Wow. I'm glad you posted this picture.

I'd been thinking a white roof might look OK too...until I saw this one. IMO, it might be a classic Rover look, but not for my D2. If I ever decide that I need to paint the roof, it won't be white, but that's just my opinion...

I believe there were some from the factory in 99 that had the white roof. Used to be one in the Ohio/Cleveland area with one that was like that from factory, just the roof, not the wheels.

It looks good. Just like the rear alpine windows are a styling nod to the Series design, the white roof is also reminiscent of the safari roof on the Series. Functionally I guess a white roof would help keep the interior cooler- to a point. Once it's sunny and hot enough it doesn't matter what color your paint is, you're going to roast no matter what. I have seen Rangies with white roofs and they look good, too. Thanks for sharing photos.

Maybe its the white wheels that just make it too much for me. I'm in no way saying not to do something like this, I just wouldn't pick white for my roof.

Of course, I guess I have to admit that I'm partially color blind, and really have no sense of taste/style. I could very easily see myself painting it bright yellow, or maybe painting it up with a Union Jack or jolly rodger.

Oh no.
The difference between my white D1 and dark green D1, after a day under the sun, is unbelievable.
You can hop in the white truck and drive away. If you don't mind the wind noise, a/c is unnecessary, even in nice places like Yuma, AZ.
In the green one, you'll roast your ass (same beige interior!), and you'll have to open all windows and let it cool off, before you even attempt to run a/c.
Mind it, the green truck has tinted windows, and white - clear.

There's exactly the same difference between my white and black Classics.

:twocents: I have to say it. It looks like a hack-job piece of shit. Just doesn't look right at all.

But hey, to each his own.

i've seen this done on a green D2 and really liked the look. also saw it on a new RR sport the other day. the RR was totally stock so it looked a bit strange. seemed to be traveling with a fj cruiser so that may have been the inspiration for the RR

Roof I like. It looks like this picture was taken at the Walmart where he bought the wheels.
