My girlfriend was following me home today on the Interstate from a Land Rover event in Nashville (to Knoxville). Every time my 2001 Discovery downshifted to climb a hill (RPM range between 3000 and 4000), a little white smoke would blow out the exhaust until it down shifted again.
I've got 46,000 miles on my D2, off-road a lot, and have cut off the rear resonator for clearance. I spent the day before in moderate off-roading (low RPM's all day) so there might have been some build-up on the valves and pistons.
I'm concerned that my head gasket or valve seats might be going. What do you guys think?
