They are great I actually got to go to their mfg shop and see how they are built and Paul the owner is super excited to be geting into the Land Rover crowd he just has never had anyone that was willing to let him use their rover as the "mold". he and I also talked about possibaly designing a spare tire top rack kind of like the ones that all of the (I hate saying this word) Jeeps have. If you were to have a say on how it was designed what would you say?

My friend Jarek did a one-off rack for above his spare tire... You can see some pics of it here: http://muddyoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3705&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=rack&start=42 ... He's used it for multiple things, putting a land anchor on it, cooler, recovery gear, etc.. works great.

Attached is an image of it in action (any excuse to post an offroad pic, right? :))..

The H2 racks are $2200 dollars. Makes a used SD rack look like a bargain. Hopefully his pricing will be more reasonable for the rovers.

It looks good, I checked out the accessories for Jeeps and noticed a ladder in 1 pic. I like the idea of that for my RR ala CT RR of the past, if the price is right.

Well these racks are built much better than the SD racks and will incourperarte some other strengthening features of other racks like haniable and sd.

whenwe talked we thought the price may be around the 12-1800 dollar rang but thats still up in the air.

some other features that these racks have is the powder coating is not done like normal meaning that it has two layers one that is an epoxy base for the first coat that acts like an etching primer and the second one is anothe epoxy coat that is a gloss black.

we are trying to figure out the look so that it doesnt look masive and obtrusive and so that it almost looks factory.

the other thing that we are debating is wether otr not to make a ladder for the rovers the problem that we are running into is the legality of having bars running somewhat over the license plate or if we have to make it wide enough to view the entire LP.

any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

We kind of talked about people wanting ones for all of the rovers including the RR so thats possably in the works as well.

He'd be better offf designing a rear bumper to take the weight of the spare and the rack. The trucks rear door hinges will be wrecked very quickly by the weight of the rack

I know that but he's not in the buisness of bumpers and swing arms altho I wish he was and I may be able to talk to him a bit about it and see where that goes but the possibilitys are probably slim for that.

Will this just be for the DI/ DII or also for the P38 RR?

We are hoping for all of the above as well as the LR3 and the Freelander.

I'd be interested in something for my RRC.

We have talked about that but his only concern is that they are "old trucks" and the demand may not be verry high (in other words is it worth the time and cost of building the jig?)

Thanks for the input keep me posted

Yeah they look nice. I would suggest the ability to attach a Hannibal or similar style tent to the top since Land Rover enthusiasts tend to move towards that Safari type expeditionary travel componentry. :D

I could see them selling well in the 1k to 1200 range. Especially if the available options lisht was extensive. But, IMHO, at 1500-1800; most people would look elsewhere. I would want see the following:

High profile version for operational sunroofs.
Optional light bar with protection bar to safeguard large expensive lights.
Optional features for mounting i.e.;
side work lights, rear work lights, cb antenna, gps antenna, pelican boxes, spare tire on top, limb riser tabs, axe mount, shovel mount, hi-lift mount, factory optional installed flooring, tent, rear ladder, side ladder, jerry can holders.

I'd be interested in one for my D90 ST. Something similar to the orignal SD rack that has the ladder that mounts to the rear bumper and the front hoop. It needs to be able to take a rooftop tent.

Definitely interested.

The roof top tent is a requirement for me as well and me being on the design consult that will have to happen. BTW do any of you have the measurements for the RT Tents? also they do have an extensive accesories list look on the web site just look at the Nissan section of the site www.gobiracks.com they have everything and more for their racks. They will offer the tall or "Adventure" and the short "Slim Line" as well as ones to cleat the dual sunroofs and non sunroofs. And as I said the price is still tennative and I do appriciate your suggestions on prices.
