After finding it amusing that this Disco had limb risers...in the desert, I wandered around the back and realized the tire cover may indicate where she originally came from. Anyone recall who made this ladder?

The "enormous" rungs provide better foot support in use than the oem little square bars.

Technically you're incorrect, unless you're referring to comfort. Traction wise the two edges on the square tube offer more support. It's easier to slip off a round tube than square.

And like I said this is about aesthetics.

Personally I like the Voyager one better. I had a regular one in excellent shape with minimal rust and I still bought the Voyager one. Granted I bought it at an event auction for far less than their asking price. But it's much beefier and feels much sturdier than the standard size. It Makes a really nice handle for opening and closing the door.

i prefer to duct tape a Werner ladder to my spare tire.....

Then when I need a regular ladder i just cut the duct tape off. Bam.....tactical ladder

It can be retro tactical if it is Gen 1, or HK. Otherwise it is new tactical and therefore douchey.

Maybe it's because I'm tall, but I've never used the ladder on the back of my truck to climb onto the roof. I use the ladder (factory LR) as a handhold when stepping up onto the bumper. From there I can reach pretty much the whole back half of the roof. If I need to reach something further forward I can stand on the top of the tire or the sill. The tailgate of a RRC is even better to stand on. You can practically hold a concert on that thing.

I have to admit, it was enjoyable to sit on the roof rack on knewsom's Disco in Ensanada before the Baja 1000 a couple years back. Great vantage point to watch the world go by. Here's the man himself:
