Who will work on LRs other than the dealer in Philly area?

I'm desperate! My local shops don't even want to touch my Disco. I can't get it to pass the emission test. I've already got a ticket for driving expired. I'm unemployed. I can't afford to pay dealer prices. HELP!

I'm in Montgomery Co. PA. Does anyone here know a shop near me that's willing and able to work on a Land Rover?

That's too far. I'd have to stay in a motel until it was fixed! Thanks anyway.

I did specify "no dealers" and "in my area". That's Montco and Bucks. Some parts of Allentown, Philly, Chester Co. are within long range. Places more than 20 miles away are of no use to me. I'm hoping someone can personaly recommend a small shop that has actually worked on a Disco and done a decent job.

Last time I bought my inspection and emission stickers from a guy at the bar. $150 stickers on and in the books. Where are you from?

I'm probably willing to do that, but I do eventually want to fix it correctly. It's killing the already bad gas mileage. Not all problems can be fixed with stickers, I'd still like to find a shop that's not scared of a Disco.

I don't know if it's different in your county but isn't the "emissions test" in PA a visual inspection and a gas cap check? If you don't have a CEL on but still can't pass a sniff try some of that emissions catalyst in your gas tank, run the piss out of it so it's nice and hot, then have it tested. Since it's a 94 you might just need new cats. Take it to a muffler shop.

Yeah it is different in Philly and the counties around it, and Pittsburg area too. It will eventually be the same statewide, there's something for you to look forward to.

But the problem is there are at least a dozen possible causes of this problem. I can't afford time or money to blindly start replacing expensive parts. I want a shop to test the thing and find out what's actually wrong, and nobody wants my money to do it!

J&J Motors right off the "Main Line" in Bryn Mawr they are EXCELLENT guys to deal with. Sorry I don't have the number here but if you can find them they will help you out.

Doug.

THAT'S the kind of info I'm looking for! That's not exactly next door, but certianly within reasonable range. I'll call them tomorrow.

They have been my wifey's family car guys for a LONG long time - very nice guys. Do great work on anything foreign and are a small personal shop that's run very well. They will fix you up.

We live in maine now but her family is still there in Villanova.
