Mechanics - I wish I could help you there, but I'm looking for somebody for major stuff myself.

Trails - locally, pretty much the spillway is all there is. There's some cool stuff near St. Francisville, if you're willing to make the trip. This summer, I'm supposed to meet a friend from Houston at Kisatchie Nat'l Forest to check that place out --about 250 miles from N.O., 250 from Houston.

Clubs - There used to be a group called Crescent City Rovers, but I never was a member and don't know what happened to them after the storm.

There's a couple of other guys from New Orleans on this broard -Cozmo and Quentin Stewart. Maybe we should organize a small outing. The only problem with that is that I have very little free time nowadays. Hopefully, in a few months, I'll be done with my house and will have some time to get out.

Welcome back!

I was doen here for a about year before Katrina, moved up to VA for my hurrication, and moved back to nola in January.

Matt- thanks for the info. I would love to do a quick ride sometime, but I'm quite busy myself. And besides, the roads down here provide more of an adventure then most of the trails I've been on. :D If you do organize anything, pm or email.

I've heard about CCR, but I cant find any info on them. I think they may be a Katrina causalty.

Not to hi jack the thread but Matt if the run you are planning to Kisatchie Natl. Forest is open to others let me know and we might try to tag along with you guys as well.

Also, do you have any info. on the place in St. Francisville? I know a Jeep Jamboree is held there but is it open to others as well?

Thanks,
Melissa B.

Crescent City Rovers was gone long before Katrina . As far as local clubs go http://www.la4x4.com/home.htm is a good starting point, yes I know its a Jeep club but there alot of local info to be found on their site. Mechanics I don't know about. I do my own work. However there is Tourist Trophy Garage at 3443 Tchopitoulas 891-3979 they do work on Rovers. If you're looking for parts http://www.roversdownsouth.com/ is the place to go. Matt can tell you about them. What part of the GNO did you move back to? And of course welcome back.

I still have my Crescent City Rovers sticker on my Disco. Having trouble parting with it. My shirt got ruined removing my axles at a campground after blowing the front diff.

There's a guy in Lafayette who is a member of SOLAROS who is coming to Tellico in April with us if you all are looking for off-roading opportunities. I know it is far away though. My brother and a friend are flying up from NOLA to go to Tellico with me. It's a great time. We usually have about 20-25 trucks up there.

If CCR or another Rover club ever gets back up and running let me know. I will gladly pay my dues.

If us GA folks ever make it to either of the two ORV parks in AL I will let you all know. Another good option would be to hook up with the Houston Land Rover club for a ride or two.

Long live CCR!!!
