Why Not More Spacer Lifts?

I have about 4" inches of suspension lift on my D1. OME springs front and rear with 2" spring spacers in the rear and 1" spring spacers in the front. Ofcourse many other changes had to be done to the driveline and suspension to accomodate this lift, but the end result is great. These modifications changed the Discovery into a great 4x4 vehicle.

3inch spacers

I have a 98 D1 and did a 3inch aluminum block lift front and rear because I was curious how easy it would be. Ive done it on alot of other vehicles and had extra time in the shop so I figured what the hey. I contacted online metals for the aluminum and that way they were precut to my door. I then cut holes in the middle of the front spacers and fabed up some plates to relocate the front shock's bottom mounting point on top of the spacer. The rear were really easy just put the blocks in and then I fabed up some brakets to relocate the bottom shock mount. Everything works great but I did get some slight vibes around 50mph to 53mph, but I reconditioned the front prop with napa 344 joints and everything was fine. I did the spacers only because its my daily driver and wanted to fit 31x10.50's mud and snow tires under it. I have two other offroad trucks that are built hardcore and really wasn't going to do much offroading with the rover, two track camping and daily driving is about it. When I checked the suspension with a forklift the front wheel was about 21 inches off the ground, my buddy with two in springs measured 18.5 inches off the ground with 31's.
