So you want him to blow his hand off spray starting fluid down the intake of an engine that already has TIMING issues and expect it to run better with the MAF disconnected. F'in brilliant why didn't I think of that.

...because a flywheel will make a truck not run right.

You should ask him if he reused the old air filter, too.

Moron.

Terry / D Chapman,

I actually did use a new air filter. PO had used a K&N (which, depending on what you read, could have contributed to previous MAF death). On a more serious note, the donor engine was / is SAI as well, and I swapped the whole thing, and I kept the flywheel (and CkPS) that came on the donor engine. I've got (as spares from the old engine / other sources):

2 spare CkPSs (one from my original, one from a junkyard truck)
My original MAF (throws codes if used though -- MAF signal low, IIRC)
2 spare knock sensors (original engine)
2 spare upstream O2 sensors (donor engine)
1 spare CPS (original engine -- really don't wanna swap)
1 spare IACV (original engine)
1 spare TPS (original engine)
1 spare coil pack (original engine)

I'll try and get you guys some video so you can see what's going on this evening.

hey man , check to make sure you got the right wires on the right plugs. that will fuck up time very nicely and cause the stated symptoms.

50psi is fine.

D2s rarely have fuel pump issues...

was the used motor running before you bought it?

That was my understanding -- yard had warmed it up and gotten decent compression numbers.

That would be nice -- will have to double-check.

He says he can "pump the gas" and get the truck to rev to 4 or 5k. If the wires were fucked, it would not do this. It would just stumble.

Not sure about dii plugs, but the d1 coolant sensor is right next two fuel injector and the plugs will fit each other, only different colors.

On the D2, the coolant temp sensor is a round plug between the two banks, while the injectors are the standard rectangle-ish plug with the wire locker.

yeah that's awfully high to rev without the stumble.

Though i have successfully drove around with crossed wires, it was coughing and bucking very badly.

It's perfectly smooth both at idle (when it does -- seemingly only when warm), and when revved.
