I drive a 2002 d2 and I am trying to install factory 2004 fog lamps in my bumper - I have 2 switches on the left of my steering wheel, one turns on the LR off road lights when my hi beams are on, the other button has a "lamp" with a 2 on it that currently doesnt turn on anything - When I pull it out of its place it is wired in the back...

Am I correct in thinking that this switch will work for activating my fogs? Where does this wiring run to?

I was wondering the same...although mine is a blank, it is still wired. (Lower left). The book shows it to be for the reverse sensors, but they are not installed in my model. But interesting that the wiring is there.

Things that make you go....huh....:wtf:

The lamp with 2 in it is an add on switch you can get from LR for accessory lights so who knows what the wiring is like for that one. There is a fog light and rear fog guard lights there as well, RTM to figure out which is which. Sounds like you are missing one though? I thought all trucks had both. But it is strange, my fog lights will light up as long as the parking lights are turned on, not tied to the headlights being on/off high/low at all.

The "S" model with the Duragrain seats and no sunroof did not come with factory installed foglights. However, the wiring harness is pre-installed from the factory. If you look under your bumper you might see the ends of the harness where the factory fogs would attach.

BTW- The factory foglight switch was located on the left side of the binnacle in the second slot from the top. Is this where yours is? Also. the factory foglight switch doesn't come with a "2" on it.

Before I installed my foglights I thought that the easy thing to do would be to buy the original foglight switch and just use the existing wire harness. However, the foglight switch was quoted at like 60 bucks from the stealership and who knows how much the lights themselves would be. If I had to guess...probably like 300 bucks for the kit. Moreover, the switch was only a momentary switch and a nightmare to hook up unless you have special relays in the circuit.

Does your switch with the number "2" on it click-on and click-off? Or is it a momentary switch that doesn't stay down when you push it?

If you already have the foglights then it's worth a shot to hook them up. Otherwise I'd go aftermarket and just re-do the whole wiring rather than try and figure out how the factory wiring harness is hooked up. I just installed aftermarket PIAA fog lamps to my ARB bumper and used the original OEM switch. If you need any further help, shoot me a PM.
