Tim, The screaming from your backseat is going to be considerabley louder when you are up in Caney.

haha Nice to meet you,

Matt

Thanks a lot Matt. You've pretty much killed my chances of getting Morgan to go to Caney Fork. lol. Btw, it was good meeting you and your girlfriend at Uwharrie. Morgan enjoyed wheeling in your group, except for the little trip to Daniel. I've been reading a little about Caney and it doesn't sound that bad, unless you want it to be. Can someone give me the 411 on the trails in a pretty much stock D1? I'm not afraid to try some tougher trails but not with the kids. I don't want to turn them off to wheeling since they are just now starting to share my interest in it.

Thanks,
Tim

I could for sure go if we made it next weekend, im a little skeptical about this weekend (needing new tires and possibly not being able to have them on there that soon). But I guess we will see what happens...

The 16th is out for me. Wine festival in Elkin with the gf. But I am planning to do a lot more group wheeling this year and will keep an eye out for any weekend trips, or day trips for that matter. Now that my daughter is more interested in going with me, and if she can't go the gf is willing to go, I'll be going as much as possible.

Hi Tim,

I was the guy in the white disco on Daniel and also the trail leader on Sunday. Caney is not really all that bad you should be fine. Lots of people run out there in trucks equipped like yours. There are some tougher trails and you might need a little help every now and then but over all unless it's raining you should be just fine.

I would not suggest going out to Caney by yourself or with someone that has not been there before. The place is huge and it's very easy to get lost. It is one of my favorite places to camp though but be sure to let the GF know there are no facilities and she'll have to use the woods just like every one else. But the camp site is in a clearing on top of a mountain with an amazing view.

I won't be making this weekend too much work and prior obligations etc etc.

Thanks Tobias. It was good meeting you and wheeling with you. It was also good meeting your friend from the UK. I definitely want to go to caney fork, I just don't know if this is the weekend to try it being mothers day and all. We might just try a short camping trip on Fri. nite and Sat. I'm having an oxygen sensor problem but hope to have that fixed by Thur. or Fri.. The part is due to arrive Wed. I opted to get the sensor alone and wire into my existing harness. I hope they send detailed instructions! I hope we can get together on some rides in the upcoming weeks. Btw, the GF can s**t in the woods, I'm just not sure about my daughter!!!! But I guess she needs to learn!

Two wires it's a snap. As far as Caney. Like mentioned before it is as hard as you want to make it. Just make sure you have good recovery gear and you'll be fine. As far as sh@t'n in the woods, I'm bringing my privy and a lugable lou. My wife is coming up for her first time. Not that she has a problem with it but it's the least I can do it being mother's day weekend and all:D Look forward to meeting you.

Cheers,

Mike

I didn't think of that, I have a portable potty. But its not going to work out this weekend, my daughter has to help her mom out this weekend.

What do you mean by 2 wires? My sensors are 3 wire and this time I opted to buy the sensor that splices into my old wire and connector. Only 47 bucks. Will be here Fri.

Can't wait to get to Caney one weekend soon. I'll keep an eye out here and CROC for rides like this. Now that I have a posse I'll have to give them the comfort of group wheeling. They might not handle breaking down in the wilderness alone watching me try to fix the disco.

Thats OK. I was just hoping you knew a little trick to fool the O2 sensors. I've gone through about 3 sets in the 10 yrs. I've owned my disco. I wish someone made a dummy for the LR like you can get for Chevy etc. Thanks and we'll see you out on the trail soon.
