So today after buying some cheapo 20 dollar fog lights to mount underneath my disco, I get home and disconnect the negative wire to my battery, and proceed to wire up the lights according to the diagram. After I was done, I reconnected everything and went to try and start her up. Please bear in mind that I am 18 and still learning, just looking for some help or guidance.

I turned the key, and instead of having the engine turn over, i get a loud clicking sound that is repeated until i stop turning the key. Synchronized with the sounds is the red SRS light which flashes as all the other lights go out. While this is going on, the serpentine belt moves maybe a quarter of an inch and the engine smells like it is burning.

Its not a lack of power issue as the stereo and lights all run fine, I even tried to turn it over while i had jumper cables connected to my brother's car.

I have to go to school tommorow and im not trying to bum a ride so any help i get tonight will be appreciated very much.

On second thought it may be the battery is dead, I just rolled up the windows and they were sluggish at best and the cd changer couldnt get started. Will try and jump again.

your battery is most likely not dead. the clicking sound is the starter solenoid - it's making that sound because it is not getting enough power to turn over the engine. I'd try cleaning the terminals and reconnecting the cables. Check that before buying a new battery.

DII's are notorious for doing funny shit if the batt voltage drops below about 10.5 VDC.

Make sure it's got a full charge B4 you take off anywhere.
