He has plenty of room for his closet full of official Camel Trophy khaki shirts, pants and pith helmets.

Well said Sinuhe. I do like the cooking and communication stuff, and I'm always on the lookout for another picture thread of yours. The rest has fallen by the wayside for me. I thought Thom, Steve, and Mike had some great input in the LR section personally.montanablur said:It's a shame because that forum has a ton of potential. There is actually a lot of good general travel related info and some great trip reports. The Land Rover section is unfortunately filled with so much misinformation it takes too much work to wade through the bullshit.
Those guys will never know what they lost in a great resource such as Muskyman, but chances are they will never realize they actually needed that knowledge.
jhmover said:I did run into a guy with no shovel, we took the kids to the snow, him and another guy decided they were taking their Toyota and Nissan pickups down the road past where I parked, which was closed where I parked and not plowed. They got about 50 feet before they both got stuck. Then one of them walks back and shyly asks me if I had a shovel. I ended up putting the tow strap on the Nissan and pulling him out (in addition to no shovel he had almost bald tires), the Toyota made it out by itself after everyone got in the back so there was some weight on the rear axle.
This wasn't even an expedition! Just 50 feet or so past the end of the plowing. LOL

that site is just really a buncha mall crawling posers all sitting around worshipping the "certified master trainers" and the internet engineers.
I think its funny one of the last posts in that thread is someone from the UK posting how the same shovel that works for dirt will work for snow...now there is a post that clearly comes from experience:rofl:

You could have just said, Canadians.emmodg said:Expedition Portal has become THE forum for: Those that don't like profanity, have precious egos, want to tout themselves as "experts" and don't want to be questioned why, would rather hear praise no matter how bad of an idea or theory they have come up with, have had their feelings hurt on DWEB and/or Pirate, love to use the terms "overlanding" and expedition", are embarrassed to ask questions anywhere else, think that driving on a dirt road in a foreign country "certifies" them as expert off-highway drivers and truck builders, have more money than sense, second rate web-engineers, those that desperately want to be listened to, and those who would rather die a horrible death than admit their wrong.
Jason T. said:I visit expeditionportal and yes, I'm disappointed that the shovel thread has gone 8 pages. But hey, this thread about the thread is already up to 3 pages!
I actually started that thread over there before I started appreciating Dweb. It turned into more fluff than I hoped for. That's partly my fault for being damn lazy. This place seems to be better when it comes to making shit rather than just bolting it on. Lesson learned.Jason T. said:I think that site has good info, except for the LR section. Did you see how many pages there were on the rear door table thread? It's no wonder why most other brand enthusiasts have a poor view of Rover owners.
Ha! Someone did this a few days ago, by one of the ExPo team members no less:jhmover said:Someone should start a thread on toilet paper over there and see what happens.
