Alright week 7 of being a proud new papa of a 97 Disco 4.0 auto

And here's the story after sitting for about 3 days after doing a FCF of a shift light assm. actually wasnt that bad had the center console out in about 15 mins but then 1 of my tech's decided it would be a great idea to "help" me and ended up loosing my Chuck key for the top of the shifter.....resulting in me not knowing about it until everything was put back together.....resulting in another R&R or centerconsole and lucky me.....I found it. But now onto the WTF.... After sitting 3 days cause I had to drive my Titan I decided to start her up and let her run...... When started she was smoking pure white smoke like I was doing an induction srvc.... Thinking she just needed to run poss leaky injectors causing fuel to pile up in chambers....... So I ran her not too hard just a quick jog around the block in which it never really did stop smoking and then she Overheated....... Thats right the big.......O.....shit..... so in my never ending quest to bang my head against the wall with this Rover I refuse to give up on her so I just need to know where to look..... Any hints or Poss I would love at this point......Thanks Matt

Head gaskets would be a good start. Also could be a cracked/slipped liner. Is there any coolant in the expansion tank? Or any coolant in the oil?

Absolutly no coolant mixing with the oil and yea there is coolant in the expansion tank and the radiator is full......presure tested the system and there are no leaks at all..... yet the oil looks good

Try pulling your spark plugs and see if any of the cylinders have been steam cleaned. Is the system being over pressurized? If so you could have a cracked liner, at least that's what happened to me.

FWIW. Back in my sprint car days I had an aluminum head develop a crack from the intake valve seat to the spark plug hole. Didn't find it until we rebuilt it in routine maintenance. There were droplets of water on that cylinder. We ran methanol and should of rinsed any water that would of been in the cylinder when running. An unlikely scenario would be when your engine is hot it could weep water into the cylinder then "heal up" when cool. I won't think that would cause your symptoms but thought of that when I read your thread.

In Tampa. Charlie's British Cars, down by the stadium in Drew Park. He is a good guy once he gets to know you.
Also, log into the FlroidaLandRoverClub board and post a thread. The members always seem to have a good source for just about anything Rover.
In Jax, British 4x4, James and Jake do most of the work for the FLRC members, they are members of the club, and do awesome work and will treat you right.
There is a place in Tampa that sells used Rover parts but he has always been the expensive route.
Then there is always Will Tillery, on this board, who can get anything Rover and for some damn good prices and support as well.

Stubby 2x4 and a 2lb sledge, go at it from side. I have never had this problem, but this is what I have seen posted before as an approach.
