WTB: Starter for 2.5 NA Diesel

Hello,
I know this is random, but I am looking for a starter including the solenoid for a mid-80's 2.5L NA Diesel. The engine came out of a European Defender. I cannot find anything on this. My starter will not shut off, and I have tried refurbishing the solenoid with no luck. Does anyone know if a gas engine starter is the same model? Please send pics and price to Lriwater@cox.net

The V8 starter is a different unit. They are not interchangeable. The 2.5NA starter is a big bad mother.

Have you taken it to a shope for a rebuild or just messed with it your self?

I had taken the solenoid apart and kind of refurbished everything (i.e. filing down some rough spots on the contacts). I put it all back together and tried it out. The solenoid stuck in the "on" position (starter continuously turning over) even with the key completely out. At that point, I posted this thread. Now, tonight, I tried it again, and the darn thing works! I hate it when things fix themselves. I am hoping that it just needed some exercise and all is well with the world.

My injector pump is leaking fuel.
Maybe that will fix itself...
