i have one in my P38 and i LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would have sent a pic but it would show a SkiFi in a P38 not a disco

in any event Satallite radio in a off road vehical is the shit... especially for me here in the Bay area cause all the good wheeling spots are at least an hour out side of town... so i never have to worry about depending on the SAME ol CD's when i want to listen to music when wheeling

I installed my skyfi in front of the high/low lever as well, then ran my antenae wires under the carpet and to the back of the of the truck.

I do have one complaint about the skyfi tho, you can't turn the output volume of the skyfi high enough, so when you crank the volume on my head unit you hear a lot of white noise coming through. Does anybody else with the skyfi have this problem as well? I have the output voume on the skyfi at max already, and because the output signal isn't that strong, it kind of degrades the listening experience, but I am still very happy with it. Long road trips become much more pleasant.

maybe there i something wrong with your unit? i have the output level on my SkyFi unit at about 3/4 and i dont have any problems? my favorite channel is 82 The System (techno / trance)... which i tend to listen as loud as possible and even with the SkiFi set to 3/4 i usually dont crank my head unit up to full blast

The Dephi unit is great, however you are going to notice alot of noise. Not sure if they have ever fixed this problem with the skyfi or not. I ended up having to put a ground-loop isolator on mine because of the noise. Once you do that everything seems to be fine. I know that alot of people have been experiencing issues with noise and some haven't. I think the problem lies in the the power adapter. The earlier models I know had power adapter problems with noise because they had no filter built into them. Some of the newer models might have repaired this problem. However, like I said you can put a ground-loop in line with the RCA's and you should have no problem. If possible don't use the FM modulator for the skyfi. Try to use a head unit that has an aux in. This will work alot better for you. And like everyone else said. It mounts very nicely in front fo the diff selector. You might want to remove the diff selector sticker before you mount it.

Stuart,
You may have a bum unit, my output is not set all the way up on the reciever, and I don't have that much noise, and plenty of volume. It is not as loud and clean as a cd, but is much better than an fm station.

yeah well I am friends with Jason above, and we installed ours in much the same way, he has a strange problem with his power adapter that we cannot recreate anywhere, and I have a strange problem with excess white noise (and to some degree engine noise, but I have a way around it), that we can't recreate. I have a ground strap, and whenever you plug a ground loop isolator inline with the RCA's, it mucks up the audio so much so that you can't hear alot of the audio signal. I have triend several different types of ground loop isolators, and in line noise filters and they all did the same thing. These things just don't seem to have the best quality of electronics parts, even though I still love my delphi, I feel they could have made it a little better on the hardware side.

As for the bum unit, I have tried swapping my skyfi, and cradle, changed the stereo to RCA cable, and switched ground points several times, all to no avail. And as I descibed above, when we put in Jasons skyfi, there is some strange problem with the power cable that we couldn't isolate, but we did work around. I have been eye-balling getting one of the new portable units such as the Roady, but I want to make sure I can use my existing antenae connections, because I don't want to have to rip up the interior to change everything out.

Not sure about the difference in equipment but I installed a clarion Sirius receiver above the ecu under the passenger seat. It had little brackets that mounted on the seat frame and screwed the receiver to that.

The unit had a wired tuner that I mounted in front of the tansfer case lever. The antenna wires I ran up the pillar under the headliner and out the sunroof. The antenna was a kenwood model that I mounted between the windscreen and sunroof.
