anybody able to run these directly on the dI crossbars? i think they will work.....

Yes. I have run them on my '95 DI factory cross bars and they worked fine. IF you place skis with the bindings facing down, just be aware of where your bindings sit with respect to the raised roofline over the second row of seats . If yours skis slide back a little, the bindings can come in contact with the roof.
