Yet another ABS???

My ABS light is on and I have done a couple of things and was wondering if I disconnect the battery would this reset the light until it trips again or do I need to go to someone with the right code reader to clear it? This is on a D1. Thanks

You'll need rover specific reader to get codes. Unplugging the battery won't cut it.

every time you start your car the abs does it check, after driving 5mph it should go off if all the system is good, if not it stays on. do your self a favor and pull the fuse and take the light out, safer.

If it's a 94 or 95 D1 you can read blink codes to troubleshoot, and then clear each code stored in memory.

Pulling the fuse and taking the light will do that job but I need to get the rig inspected and I think when they hook up the computer it will read the ABS code and fail me. Am I correct please let me know, if I am wrong then out comes the fuse and light.

You CAN get blick codes with 96-99 also. Its the smae ecu, but the wires re in the OBD@ connector.

Check the TSB section....

Bottom line..... Use the same proceedure as you would or a 95-back Discovery EXCEPT your shorting pins 5 and 15 on your OBD 2 Connector.

what do you mean by safer could i loose brakes all together? My light comes on once in a while but if i shut the engine off and re-start it its ok for a while.Also at low speeds at least it did it a low speeds like taking off the abs comes on when i try braking and takes longer to stop or it seems. is that dangerous?

If it intermittently goes off and on while driving what can happen is it will be off you will be driving and coming to a stop light, you apply your brakes expecting to stop and all of a sudden it freaks out because it thinks you are slipping and you don't stop like you should and slam into some one. Not safe.
