Chieftain? They are really limiting their potential buyer audience by only marketing to homosexuals.

An expensive solution in search of a problem. The RRC was far from perfect, but many of its idiosyncrasies defined its character as much as the brilliant aspects of its design did. To me the Chieftain is the automotive equivalent of Photoshopping a Kardashian onto the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There are some historic works of art that are better left untouched or restored, rather than recreated in a vision that departs from the intent of the original artist. Overfinch does something similar in concept, but their approach is to enhance the existing vehicle within certain parameters, not to re-engineer major mechanical systems. What would CSK think?

But now it's an iconic vehicle that won't leave you on the side of the road.
better untouched?
so the RR Classic that's a piece of shit rustbucket is "better" than one that isn't?

The "style" of the vehicle is unchanged.
They've gotten rid of all the shit that makes Land Rover... well, shit.

I don't think the intent of CSK was to make an unreliable, overpriced piece of shit.
I don't actually know, I never met him.

They could have easily updated it without making it look like something from a rap video.

But now it's an iconic vehicle that won't leave you on the side of the road.

It's gonna leave somebody someplace. I think the first thing to snap will be a front axle. Then eventually the input shaft on the trans. if they used the same ZF

From their site. "With modernised chassis design featuring all independent air suspension, the legendary 560bhp LSA engine from GM and 6 speed transmission (as used in the Interceptor R) allied to a bulletproof GM transfer box (as used in the Jensen FF-R) JIA have transformed the driving experience whilst retaining the off-road capability should it be required."

I never said anything about a piece of shit rustbucket RRC. Just speaking from my own experience of RRC ownership, which, being on the west coast, doesn't involve rust. My Rangie runs great and I don't want to fuck with the designer's original intent. If I do want more power and more comfortable handling I'll buy an L322 for a small fraction of what the Chieftain costs.

I don’t think it’s awful looking. It doesn’t look very off road worthy any more. I am pretty sure that it is a blast to drive. I would be happy if someone wanted to keep it in my garage. I will say that I do take the time to make my Rovers quicker, I really don’t get the whole 550hp SUV thing. 550hp will always be better in a sedan or coupe. Once you get to 300hp. you would be better served by a lighter platform. Towing would be the exception for more horsepower but if you need 550 then you probably need a longer wheelbase for whatever it is you are towing. Just my two cents. I try not to knock people that make something their own for better or worse.

So does mine at least at the moment and also like the original design.

For me I've always tried to keep my Rovers as much Rover as possible - although some folks are building more "Resto-Mod" now like this, always have gone the original idea concept.

It is very true though that RRCs are selling for much more in GB than here in the US.

This would make for a nice Winter Rover while the current RRC hibernates in the heated garage.

I didn't put a neon head unit in either of my rovers, even though the factory audio was not up to "modern" standards.
I had no interest in deviating from the original design.
If I could have updated my 2005 RR audio to include some bluetooth connectivity, while leaving the original "style", I would have considered that.
But if you can replace all the not-very-good rover parts (like the Buick engine from the mid-60s) with stuff that was reliable, that seems to me to be a good thing.
Especially if you can do so leaving it looking like original.
I don't know RR Classics well enough, but the exterior of that looks "original" to me. Maybe the dual exhaust is not OEM?

Obviously, I was speaking from my own RR ownership experience.
And the cost of the Chieftain is stupid AF.
