if you are wanting something to leave at the cabin, go with the toyota tacoma! you can get an older one w/ 4-whweel drive dirt cheap and its offroad capabilities and power will be pleanty for hauling around firewood and stuff. i have owned both a ford truck and a tacoma, i put the tacoma through hell and back and was very impressed with its reliability. as for load space, unless your hauling redwood trees i wouldnt worry too much about it. once, we put camping gear for two weeks for 6 people and the 6 people and a dog in mine and took it through some rough stuff! no problems...no complaints (other than the missing "oh shit" handle). oh yea, it is very important to buy one with dents already in it, that way you can have more fun. hope this sways you towards the tacoma!
oh! and..
MERRY CHRISTMAS
