I parked my 92 RR about 6 months ago. Just finished a few minor repairs and dropped a new battery in. Nothing. No lights or anything. It was running when I parked it. What am I missing here?

Thanks,

Bud

Battery is OK. I wiggled wires, and got just a bit of juice - enough to illuminate the dome light. I tried jumping also, but not enough power is making it to the system. Perhaps a short. Also, I noticed that the positive terminal on the battery is getting hot.

Hmmm, maybe your positive cable is resisting current?

I have a "parts '89" in my yard right now with the positive batt cable melted throughout!

I had a similar event a couple of months ago. parked my running '92 LSe and after 6 months or so, charged the battery and plugged it in. No power.

Tried jumping it, and acted 'wierd". Then went to wiggle the cables and noticed they were warm. Then noticed the alternator cables warm hot.

For whatever reason there was a short in the alternator. Something must of frozen stuck internally?

measure the resistance of all of your major cables, + and - they should all register somewhere around 1 ohm or less.

Are all the connections clean? If they aren't then that would cause extra resistance; hence the heat. Every we put batteries in or work on them we clean + , - terminals and the cables on the battery and then put the treatment on them to keep them from corroding.
