ZF Auto Transmission operation?

Howdy,

I'm wondering if someone could tell me if the ZF automatic transmission in my 96 Disco is electronically controlled.

If it is electronically controlled is there someone who could post a description of how the system works?

Zf

Ed,
No the ZF is not elec it has a couple of sensors but that is it.....every thing else is cable linkage.

That is really awesome to find out that tidbit of information.
I'm looking to fit out my 96 Disco with an aftermarket ECU. (see my aftermarket ECU posts... http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3423&highlight=discoed ) Transmission control was an issue that I thought I might have to deal with. Sounds like I wont have to work around that.

Probably the sensors are for temperature and reverse switch I would bet. Those are things that could easily be dealt with.
