Have a 96 Disco with 90 thousand, at higher speeds the car won't want to accelerate easily, if position the throttle just so you can slowly accelerate, but if you push the accelerator all the way down you will lose speed as engine looses power. The only thing I have done so far is to change the plugs (bosch platinum + four) and plug wires (magnecor) and I also just ordered a new fuel filter (looks like it has never been changed). I searched and seen this problem posted from many other Disco owners but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer to the problem, some say fuel filter, fuel pump, pressure regulator, O2 sensor. Can anyone give me the "most likely" cause or an order of which parts to replace first, so I'm not just guessing, or should I take this to the Dealer (hour away) sorry for the long post, thanks in advance for any help |

Ordered a fuel filter from Atlantic British and installed it after work today and the problem is completely gone the car is driving better than when I purchased it (4/02) I thought the car was just naturally kind of a pig but in comparison now its like a rocket. For anyone else changing the filter it is located under the passenger side rear wheel well, tools needed are a 16 millimeter wrench for the gas line connection and a 13 millimeter for the clamp that holds the filter, I read a post that said to depressurize the fuel line before changing so I took out the #6 fuse in the engine compartment (see owners manual for layout) which is for the fuel pump, then ran the engine till it almost died, turned off the car jacked it up for easier access, changed the filter, turned the key on a few times to run the pump, and started it up. Land Rover driving joy is back. |
