I am going to lift my disco this weekend. I have researched the HELL out of this website. Am I doing the right thing by lifting it? COuld lifting it lead me to disaster in the long run. I mainly use it for intown driving. I talked to john at EE and he said to go with HD springs. I am going to keep the LR shocks for now. Is the 265/75 not a popular tire? I noticed that very few people run this tire.... Is there a reason why. I just dont want to mess up a good ride

It seems like a fairly popular size among the DII crew, its just a pain to fit them on a DI when compared to 235/85s (but it can be done -read: lots of cutting).

no not much cutting for 265/75 according to the dude

talk to kyle the man of the house he ran them forever and from his posts and gallery he's pretty uncut compared to alot.

check out his space out the fender trick in tech and ask his opinion in this thread, he'l expound on it in depth, but they shouldent be tough to fit

no your not carter. that's the size. just that us with that tire size like to hack up our trucks. like me! but kyles solution has worked for many with this size. i just didn't have a choice when i was on the trail rubbing. "tin snips please......"

Yeah Man,

That was the most horendous sound I ever heard when Garrett's white lettering out tires were cutting into his D1. I know, I was the dude handing him the tim snips and asking "WTF?"

I have 265/75/16 MTR's with OME HD's and did not need to cut a thing. I was told though that I need to replace my bushings. If your going to replace the springs you may as well go ahead and replace the Shocks as well. No use in doing the work twice.

Paul, at least tell BRyan that you are running 265/75-16 with a lift. So is Greg P, and so am I. All D2's, works fine, no rubbing. I have OME HD springs and shocks, what an improvement in ride! If you are going to install the springs, spend the exta bucks and do the shocks at the same time, you won't be sorry!

Well, is BRyan driving a D1 or a D2?

Who here has a photo of a D2 with 235/85's on stock alloys? I really like the narrow look and would like to see it before my tire purchase.

Yes, I know the 265/75's are more popular on the D2.

Thanks,
Kai

yeah glad that sound of rubbing is gone for good. haha. and certainly there was a great improvement on jens D2 with her new OME setup and 265 meats. night and day. was glad to rid of those freaking XPC's. rode like ass, noisy and shitty in the snow. very happy with the coopers and OME.

Kai,

Check out my web pages:

The folder with pictures from Killingtion were of my truck on 235-85-16 GY MTR's. The photo's from Pinebarrens and MAR are the same truck on 265-75-16 GY MTR's.

d1 here with 0me hd and 265/75/r16. You can use Kyles method and it will work just fine. If you don't change your shocks though you could have an isue with travel. Not enough down travel and the extra spring coil will decrease your up travel a bit.

If you don't change to longer shocks your current shocks will also wear out quicker, as they will not be operating within their design parameters.

I just installed OME HD springs and shocks along with some new 265/75 BFG AT's. I have no rubbing and it looks great

Eric,

Where you able to fit the 265/ 75 on the spare tire carrier?

OME HD springs on all, 265/75/16s and stock Bilstein is perfect on road but for off-road use, the front shocks is kind of low. So far the ride is stable (no sway bars) during cornering and lots of rubbing during extreme articulations and sharp turns and good thing don't have to cut anything. Overall, you get 2 inch lift and can still do extreme mall crawling (no roof rack please).

Tom, yes that size tire fits the sare tire carrier if you flip it around. You can go to http://expeditionexchange.com/disco2tires to find out the details on how this works, it is easy to do.

Tom,

On a d1 you will not have to flip the tire carrier but you will only have about 1/2 in of clearance but it will fit.
Butch, with the bigger tyres i hardly feel the speed bumps any more.
