In latest LR Enthusiast, I saw an ad about Lucas Power Steering fluid additive and someones write-up about their leaky box blah blah blah. Anyway, my box was beginning to leak as well. Not much, but the under the box, around the arms, always wet from fluid seep. So I tried a bottle. After four weeks, not a single leak folks. Seems to do the job. Just an FYI from first-hand experience.

Now I know someone is going to post a follow-up stating their use of this additive made all of their engine warning lights flash, Detriot locker useless, springs start sagging and increased their tendancy to crab and flip their rig, but hey, at least their steering box will be dry.

I saw the same write-up and tried it 2 weeks ago. No leaks so far.

Markd1x2,

That's the stuff. Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak I simply topped off my reservoir with the stuff and it seems to have worked.

Will,

You can find it at Advance Auto Parts or NAPA or PepBoys or any place like that.

Big deal, I tried some standard pep boys "No Leak" about 18 months ago and my steering pump has been dry since.

ok, I may sound dumb here, but where is the filler for the ps box? I don't have a manual to look at, but what I think is the filler has a ZF cap on it. that seems like trans to me, although the lines run to a box connected to the steering components.

WOW!

my steering was so stiff, to the point where parallel parking was very difficult. I added a bottle of this today and it GREATLY loosened up the steering. it feels as though I actually have PS again! my PS box was leaking too, will clean it up and see if it also stops the leak. I cannot believe the immediate difference this made, not bad for a $5-$6 fix.
