I've been thinking about buying a Discovery for a couple of months now and I'm getting closer to making a decision. I drove a series one for the 1st time yesterday and I was really disappointed with the seating position. It was uncomfortably high and I could not see overhead signals. I couldn't get the seat down any lower. Is there anyway I could modify the seat to drop it a couple of inches? How do you 6ft+ people deal with the seat height? Rick |

Use the reflection on the hood to see overhead signals. You soon get used to the position, it's great being high up - you get a fine view of the ladies when you pull up besides them at the lights Rick#2 1998 Disco LSE |

i am 6'-3" and really the only thing that annoys the hell out of me is the windshield is too low. but they changed that a little in the late '99 with the D2's. my knees are about 2" from the kick panel, but that is how i like it. i don't like being stretched out and reaching for the wheel. sometimes i can't see the highbeam indicator or the speedometer that well when i am over 70, but overall i like the seating position. i like that when i have my window down that my forearm is at the right level with the window. many people complain about the lack of leg room......i don't see it. and FWIW having the added headliner coming down the front saved me from putting my head through the windshield once. i still managed to crack the windshield from the impact, but that was from where my head hit just above the windshield on the headliner. i still had a nice scare for a while, but it was better than smashing the glass. |
