The Dashboard lights are out and I thought the fuse was blown, I checked the book and it's saying that the same fuse controls the clock etc, problem is, the clock's working. Does anyone know what the problem might be? |

I had this problem. Check all your fuses. My turn signal fuse was burned out. The wierd thing was that the dash lights would come on when the driving lights where on and would be out when the headlights were on. Lucas..... Hope this helps JK |

The lights all went out at the same time, I changed fuse #14 which is what the book suggested with no luck. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. |

Just a guess, but check fuse # 2 in the block behind the battery (engine compartment). David |

I had the same problem on my '97 D2 and this was the culprit. Try this . . . check your brake light bulbs in the back. Do not ask me why, but if one of them is burned out, then the dash lights do not come on. It has something to do with the circuit suddenly opening instead of the normal closed loop. One word of caution: make sure the rear brake light bulb is replaced with a "double pole" type of bulb(the type that should be in there already from the factory). If you ask for a replacement bulb at NAPA or Autozone, they may not give you the correct bulb. Make sure it is the double pole type or it will cause your bulb socket to cook from the short-circuit. |

Thanks all, I happened to notice that my right rear break light was out lastnight, so I supect that that's the culprit. I will change it tonight and let you ll know. |

I *wish* all my dash lights were out. Then I wouldn't have to look at all the pretty red, yellow, and orange lights that like to stay lit.

Deja vu, now I have the tail lights out problem. My tail lights are still not working. So I did the normal routine: - checked the bulbs (they're all fine) - checked the fuses (they're fine also) - mysteriously my interior lights decided not to work anymore either (inspected bulb and it looks fine too, loadspace light works fine though) Is there anything else that I should look at? Extra info: - hazards work - all three brake lights work - parking lights work - headlights work - signals work - dashboard works when using parking lights |

I narrowed the problem down to the switch for the tail lights problem. Interior lights work now. Although the bulb passed the visual inspection, it failed the continuity test; bulb replaced. |

I found that the reverse light was out and that may have caused the #8 inside fuse to burn out. Check that out and let me know. |

Almost forgot about this thread. Anyways, I fixed it a few days ago and it took a measy five minutes to fix the problem. It was the lousy headlight switch that failed. I popped the cover off the steering column and replaced the switch. That was it. |
