So I am looking into adding a lift to my 03 HSE Disco. Since I have the SLS, I was going to add 2 spacers in rear (probably from rovertym) and replace the front with 2 springs to match the spacers in the rear. I believe I can still use the stock shocks and the brake and ABS lines will be long enough. This seems too easy. Did I miss anything? Any castor or driving issues that I should be worried about? |

Clay, I recently did a 2" lift to my '03 D2. I used the new Rovertym springs (RR4 on front, RR3 on back) along with OME shocks (N107 on front, N108 on back). The stock brake and ABS lines are long enough for a 2" lift. I opted for new shocks for two reasons: 1) I wanted shocks that were more closely matched to the new springs, and 2) The shocks have to be removed for a spring install anyway, so I wanted everything done at the same time. I've experienced no vibrations and am very pleased with this setup. I actually think the Disco rides better with this setup than compared to stock. -Eugene |

Thanks Eugene. It sounds like if I'm going to change out the springs in the front, I should change out the shocks as well. Makes sense. I am also trying to see if anyone has used the spacer method for the rear airbags vs "fooling" the SLS sensors to keep the airbags raises. |

Clay, I know several people on Dweb have installed the SLS spacers. Try these archive threads: ../17/34230.html> ../17/36469.html> One thing I forgot to mention: The OME shocks that I chose were close in length to the stock shocks. Because of this, my travel was limited and the brake/ABS lines did not need to be extended. If you end up going with an extended travel shock (Rancho 9000, for example), you may need to extend your brake/ABS lines. Good luck, -Eugene |
