Anyone know if a 2002 DII SE is prewired for the heated seats? Anyone done this install? Looks like a very cheap and easy install.

It is my understanding that the leather seats come with the heated seat elements.

Check these out for information:

Yes I have done the retro-fit.
You will need two heated seat switches and a new centre cover plate with the appropriate cutouts for the switches.
If your setas have been wired up for heat then after removeing the cover plate and switch holder you should see two harnesses with sockets into which the switches will plug. It's as simple as that.

Good luck.

streak is partly correct. The wiring is present in all Disco IIs, regardless of whether or not you have the elements. The question is whether or not you actually have the heater elements.

My 2001 SD had the plugs under the center console switch plate, but when I installed and connected the switches to the wiring connectors, I did not get heat.

I removed the upholstery and found that there were no heater elements, so I then ordered seat heater elements and installed.

Craig,

I reviewed all the prior threads, and it seems that from your comments there is actually no real way to tell if the heating elements are present without buying and hooking up the switches and waiting to see if the seats heat up. Is this correct?
So, in your SD, you had the wires leading into the back of the seat and no heating elements? what were they connected to?

I have a '01 SD, but it came with the real leather seats.

On the back of my seats, there were open connectors that the heater elements were supposed to connect to. That is another way to tell if you have the heater elements.

If you have any open connectors at the bottom of your seat, you are not equipped with seat heater elements.

When I ordered my switches, the only way I knew to tell if I had the heater elements was to hook up the switches and wait. For me, there was no heat, so I had to continue my project.

If you install your switches, please note that the little LED on the switch will light up if you activate the button... This happens regardless of whether or not you actually have the elements. I got excited because the lights turned on when I connected the switches, but I waited 30 minutes and I felt no heat being generated by the seats.
