Anyone know how to re-program the remote/key fob for a Disco I (1996)? Dealer wants to charge $100 for a new remote and at least 1/2 hour to program remote for an additional $45. Sounds a bit too pricey to me, but I've never had to deal with it before. I can't seem to find any reference on how to do this. Thanks.

I'm not sure if it is the same for a '96 as it is for the 94-95 but here are the instructions for the 94-95. More than likely it isn't the same but maybe it is a slight variation for the 96???

Sorry, it's all I could find.

Good luck!

Thanks. To be more specific, this is for the remote with 2 buttons (one unlocks, other locks). Not sure if this is for the single button, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

If you have removed the battery the key-fob/handset needs syncronising with your car.
If handset has two buttons ...

1. Remove the handset battery and check its the correct type/code for your vehicle [wrong battery = won't work properly!]
2. With handset battery removed, press and hold each handset button for minimum of 10 seconds to discharge the electronics.
3. Clean and refit the battery.
4.In range of your car point the handset at your car and press 'lock' successively, but not too quickly, until your car locks [It should lock on 4th or 5th press]. Handset now syncronised with your car.
5. Press 'open' and doors will unlock.
