I have a 94 disco that has a seemingly unrepairable problem! It just wont start, and seems to have a mind of it's own of course it
is a Land rover. My truck has been worked on by
the dealer and myself, resulting only in more
grey hair and a shortage in my bank account!!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the symptoms: first off it has fire
one minute and none the next.I have a genuine
workshop manuel and have completed all ignition
fault tests over and over. This covers the ign.
coil, amplifier,distributer,pickup etc.All tests
are satisfactory which confuses me greatly.
I have replaced the coil, amplifier, plugs,
rotor cap/arm, and even the distributer. The distributer was replaced because there are no
pickup and baseplates on planet earth.I have a
new fuel pump and that whole system seems ok.
All fuses and relays seem to be ok as well.
While waiting on the pickup for several months
I decided to bite the bullet and order the distributer. But before it got there I decided to
try starting it, and after 3 or 4 months of
setting it fired right up and and ran beutifuly
for about an hour and then just stopped like
someone flipped a switch! It did the exact same
thing after fitting the new distributer.By the
way it does have the remote amplifier kit, which
I replaced with a new kit but didnt change a thing
The story just continues, ask me and I'll tell you
more PLEASE HELP!!!

You My 88 RR did the similar thing final cause was a very baddly worn timing set. It kept messing with the timing and would confuse the ECU, It would run fine one day then the next it would idle like shit then the ECU light would pop up. I would dissconnect the neg lead and let sit for 10 min. then all would be well as long as i did not have to idle very long.. Good Luck. who told you there are no PU plates?
