I'm thinking it has something to do with the A/C. Any ideas or good places to check would be appreciated. Thank you. Kit 98 Discovery LE |

Kit, You should also sometime see mist coming from the passagner side air vent when using the A/C. You need to crawl under the truck and clear the blockage in the drain tubes. There is one on each side of the transfer case made of rubber. work them gently until the blockage clears and the water drains out. Dont wear a good shirt while doing this. Chris von C |

Search the board, but it has happended to many of us. Mine was a leaky passage through the firewall/bulkhead...... Required removing and resetting with new sealant. LR did mine under warranty on 2001 DII. |

I'm having this same problem, especially when I go through the car wash. I was told the reason might be because these vehicles are sold with either the drivers controls on the right side or the left, that there is a big hole that's plugged up on the passenger side. Over time the seal needs replacing. I haven't had a chance to check this out yet but maybe this is what you're experiencing. Good Luck and hope this helps. '95 Disco |

Chris Von C stole my thunder, I too had a wet foot when using the A|C, there was also a musty, doggy smell type odour. It all stopped after unblocking the drain tudes, and man was the water in there stagnant and foul smelling. Mud and dirt soon blocks those drain pipe fingers. |

I had/Have the same problem with 00 Disco II. Dealer said they cleared a blockage in the A/C drain tube as well. Havent had the time to see if it really worked. I could see it dripping for the vent that comes out from under the dash on the right side of the floor on passanged side. |

Is there any way to disconnect the tubes from the source? I have this issue and was thinking about disconnecting the tubes from the source and using compressed air to clean them out. |

There are two rubber 'teats' on either side of the bellhousing way up high. Massage/squeeze these, as the rubber gets stiff with heat and age, but as others have said, be prepared to get an armpit full of nasty water. As for 'rodding out' or 'snaking' the A/C drain tubes, an old speedometer drive cable from a series Rover work well. This can also be used to clean out the sunroof drain tubes. Cheers |

You can extract this two "teats" and clean them more confortable. From underside you can clean inside of the drain tubes with a rag. I suggest to clean them few weeks later, because the amount of dirt is great, and drained water helps to carry it to passenger side "teat". One year later, the blockage was just back, so i recommend you to check it each year |

just a suggestion, why cant we route the drain tubes out to a more accessible spot under the vehicle using PVC tubing? This way we could check them easier than crawling under the vehicle. |
